I have a 2015 challenger and it is my understanding that adding apple carplay is a hardware problem not just a software upgrade. But you can bluetooth and make calls and texts wireless without it having to be plugged into the unit. Extended warranties are also available!
Actually, apple carplay is available across the total skoda range, with just the citigo left from the party. I love using apple carplay so this was a worthwhile purchase for me. They will buy back your stock unit for $400 if in good condition (at least they did a few months ago when i purchased).
